Jon Laaser, the current sportscaster for the Virginia Tech Hokies, will be the feathered speaker at the Roanoke Valley Sports Club meeting on Monday, April 18, at the Salem Civic Center. Meeting activities begin at 5:45 p.m., with the dinner at 6:00 p.m. and speaker at 6:45 p.m.
Laaser has been the Voice of the Hokies since June 2015 bringing a wide range of football, basketball and baseball announcing experience. The Minnesota native spent the previous 4 years being sportscaster for Virginia Commonwealth University basketball team, and 6 years working with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A baseball affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Laaser’s graduated from Brown College in 2001 with a degree in Radio Broadcasting.
In addition, the Sports Club will recognize Faith Christian School basketball team and Patrick Henry High School swimming team.
