At the April 21 meeting of the TAP Board of Directors, the search team charged with finding a replacement for retired President Ted Edlich recommended Interim President Annette Lewis as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Total Action for Progress. TAP’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Ms. Lewis to the position.
“Annette has the leadership skills and experience to successfully guide TAP in its mission to provide economic stability and opportunities for all,” said Steve Cronemeyer, TAP’s Chairman. “She is the right person at the right time, and we look forward to a bright future with Annette as our next President.”
Annette Lewis has worked at TAP for 25 years and previously served as senior vice president of programs and the director of TAP This Valley Works. The programs she oversaw represent over 1,000 clients served annually in diverse program areas such as education and career development; job training and placement; ex-offender services; veteran services; and domestic violence services.
Ms. Lewis oversaw the Virginia Center for Employment Training Network, a five-member organization providing skills training and job placement in Abingdon, Alexandria, Lynchburg, Roanoke, and Norfolk. She is a trustee on the Roanoke Higher Education Authority Board; member of the Rebuilding Together Board; and serves on the City of Roanoke School Board.
A tireless leader and force for good within the community, Ms. Lewis has been the recipient of numerous honors, including: the 2013 Regional Workforce Development Professional of the Year award; 2009 YWCA Woman of Achievement Award in Business; the 2008 Psi Phi Citizen of the Year Award; and the 2006 Zeta Phi Beta Finer Womanhood Banquet Honoree. She is a lifetime member of the NAACP and has been a faithful working member of Morning Star Baptist Church for over 30 years.
