The Roanoke Chapter of The Links, Inc. has awarded scholarships to 9 graduating high school seniors. Listed alphabetically as follows:
Rabia Ikram, a graduate of Cave Spring High School who plans to attend Jefferson College of Health Sciences; received a $300 scholarship; Abbie Lewis, a graduate of William Byrd High School who will attend Roanoke College; received a $300 scholarship; Phazon Nash, a graduate of Northside High School who plans to attend George Mason University, received a $500 scholarship: Jeanette Sako, a graduate of William Byrd High School who will attend UNC Chapel Hill, received a $1,000 scholarship; Emilia Scarpa-Friedman, a graduate of Blacksburg High School, received a $300 scholarship; Garren Snow, a graduate of Salem High School who plans to attend Virginia Tech, received a $300 scholarship; Nelly Tapia, a graduate of Patrick Henry High School who will attend Roanoke College, received a $300 scholarship; Savion Trigg, a graduate of William Fleming High School who plans to attend Radford University, received a $500 scholarship; Yebelee Willis-Desto, a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, who will attend Virginia Commonwealth University.
Roanoke is one of 289 chapters of The Links, Inc., one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
