The Roanoke chapter Links honored Sgt. 1st Class Nusurika S. Hodge and Sgt. 1st Class Myrtis H. R Serges at a program held Sunday, June 9 at the Salem Civic Center, marking the third year the Links have hosted this event. Brenda D. Hale, local NAACP president and a Women’s Veteran was the guest speaker.
Sgt. 1st Class Nusurika S. Hodge is a wife and the mother of three beautiful children. She currently serves as a recruiter in the US Army Recruiting Command in Roanoke. The native of Kinston, NC, SFC has been a dedicated and astute member of the Army for 19 years. She has served as a career counselor, sexual harassment assault and rape prevention representative, an equal opportunity leader and a family readiness liaison. SFC Hodge has also served one tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from East Carolina University and continues to work and volunteer in positions that will allow her to help others.
Sgt. 1st Class Myrtis H. Richards is a US Army veteran, a wife and mother of two beautiful children. She currently serves as a recruiter in the US Army Recruiting Command. She is a native of Girard, GA, SFC who enlisted in the army in 2001 while a senior in high school. As a dedicated and astute member of the Army for 17 years, she has served as an Instructor, Army Recruiter and Voting Assistant Officer and has served one tour to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She holds a Bachelor of Health Care Administration degree from Kaplan University and continues to work and volunteer in positions that will allow her to help others.
Outgoing Links President Connie Steele, presided; incoming President Carolyn Patterson welcomed those in attendance and Rhonda Poindexter gave the closing remarks.
