On July 31, the Loudon Melrose Neighborhood Organization, Inc. awarded a $750. Scholarship to Wafiyyah Samirah Turner. Wafiyyah is a June graduate of Patrick Henry High School and plans to further her education by attending Radford University this fall majoring in nursing.
Wafiyyah is the eldest of 5 children and sometimes had to balance more than one job at a time. During her high school career, she participated in AP courses, varsity lacrosse and worked with numerous clubs and organizations. In spite of her busy schedule, she also found time to volunteer and give back to the community. She continues to volunteer by assistant coaching Northwest little kid soccer while keeping her job until she leaves for Radford U.
As giving back is something Wafiyyah is not only passionate about, but has dedicated her life to exemplifying, she was proudly chosen as this year’s LMNO’s award recipient! Congratulations, and keep up the good work!
