The Roanoke Chapter of the Girl Friends, Inc. is pleased to announce three scholarship opportunities for high-achieving, African-American youth. The Chapter believes that education is the key to success in life and wants to make a difference in the lives of students in Roanoke, Salem, Lynchburg, and the New River Valley. A brief summary of each scholarship follows:
The $300.00 Constance J. Hamlar Scholarship is to assist a student at a community college or a four-year accredited college; The $500.00 Roanoke Chapter’s Girl Friends Scholarship is to assist a student who plans to attend an accredited four-year college or university; and The National Chapter’s $1000.00 to $1500.00 Girl Friends Fund Scholarship is to a high school senior that has been accepted to a four-year accredited institution. This award is renewable for up to four years, provided the scholar meets academic requirements.
