All interested high school students to attend our next ACT-SO meeting at 5:00 pm Sunday, Nov. 18 in the fellowship hall at Loudon Avenue Christian Church, 730 Loudon Ave NW.
The Roanoke Branch NAACP is excited about our 7th ACT-SO local competition. Because we know that we have youth who qualify, the Roanoke Branch is looking for those talented high school students who are willing to showcase their respective skills and talents in order to win money, prizes, awards and national recognition at the 2019 National ACT-SO competition in Detroit, MI. July 18-21, 2019.
Please tell everyone who knows a high school student who excels in the areas of Science (STEM-Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Math), Humanities (Filmmaking, Drama, Poetry, Short Story), Performing Arts (Vocal, Dance, Instrumental, etc.), Visual Arts (Painting, Photography, Sculpture, etc.), Business (Entrepreneurship) and Culinary Arts to ask his or her teachers about ACT-SO. Applications and fact sheets are available at the local high schools!
The November 18 meeting will give everyone an opportunity to learn more about ACT-SO and about preparations for the local competition to be held in March 2019.
For more information, please contact Gloria Randolph-King, chairperson at 793-0811; Co-chair, the Honorable Anita Price at 529-4452 or Sheila Herron at 853-6203.
