Speedy Tax Services has officially opened a local office. “We are very excited to expand the Speedy presence into the Roanoke market to offer tax preparation services locally,” said owner Shmura Glenn. “The first location, in Macon Georgia is thriving supporting both communities with a professional commitment to fast preparation, fair pricing, and friendly people who help you navigate an ever-changing system. We are looking forward to sharing that same commitment here in Roanoke.”
The office is the second location for the company, which opened its Macon office over 20 years ago with Glenn as part of the original staff. As a 12 year resident of Roanoke, she is no stranger to entrepreneurship, nor community enrichment. And as the daughter of businessman A. Byron Smith and nursing instructor Miriam Smith, Glenn continues to operate her father’s company, A Byron Smith Oil/Smith Energy, providing heating oil and diesel fuel to residential and commercial customers.
“Daddy was a man of many gifts and many ideas,” said Glenn. “But first he was a man of community. We are so pleased to be able to provide this service through a local office. It really speaks to the heart of my parents to provide personalized and excellent services that people need.”
Speedy Tax Services now offers both residential and small business tax services, with options for no and low contact preparation through an online application, drop off/pick up option and the traditional office visit.
“We want to ensure our clients have safe options to complete their tax preparation that are also timely,” Glenn said. “We observe the wearing of masks and appropriate social distancing when we receive taxes in the office. That is our first commitment to the community: safety. The second is to excellence in tax preparation from beginning to end.”
“We want to launch our office this year with 2020 in mind,” said Glenn. “Many people have had hardships financially and we understand that. This year, as an introduction to Speedy we will have a base fee of $159, which will include state tax preparation. If you mention the “Tax Rabbit” you also get an additional discount. We invite the community to compare our services and make the choice that’s best for them. Our purpose is to serve.”
