The Marcus M. Wilson Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit organization that was established in 2010 in memory of Marcus Mandela Wilson, a vivacious young man whose life abruptly ended at the age of 19. Marcus was on his way to college in pursuit of a Criminal Justice degree with the hopes of helping others in need. In his memory, his mother, Lorena Wilson, founded the Marcus M. Wilson Scholarship Fund to continue Marcus’s love for education and helping people. Every year, scholarships are awarded to Roanoke City seniors to help them pursue their dreams of going off to college to make a difference in someone else’s life.
This year three scholarships were awarded to an impressive group of seniors. The recipients of the 2022-2023 Marcus M. Wilson Scholarship are Marin Fiddler, Patrick Henry High School, Treya Gunn, William Fleming High School, and Nore Jackson, William Fleming High School (not pictured). We are proud of our recipients and are excited to see the impact they will make on the world.
