Join us for a mural dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the new mural at the YMCA Express at Gainsboro on Friday, Nov. 1.
The ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. The event is titled “Celebrate the Faces.” The mural highlights the historical and cultural significance of the YMCA and its ties to the Gainsboro community, honoring individuals like A.L. This project was funded through the City of Roanoke’s Percent for Art Program with support from City of Roanoke Artist in Residence Jon Murrill in an ongoing strategy to connect and beautify the community through community driven and artist led public art projects.
This event celebrates a new mural that honors the Gainsboro community and the YMCA’s rich history of service and connection to its residents. The mural serves as a visual tribute to significant individuals, events, and milestones, reinforcing the YMCA’s enduring commitment to progress, inclusivity, and community support.
