The Roanoke Branch NAACP will present its exciting 5th Annual “Jazz on the Lawn” on Sunday, July 7, (5:00-7:00 p.m.) on the Clint Barlow’s massive lawn located at 3646 Cove Rd. This is an annual fundraiser given to assist the 2017 ACT-SO Olympians attend the National Competition this summer in Detroit, MI.
This year’s “Jazz on the Lawn” will feature the award winning “Solacoustix,” the dynamic duo of JoJo Stockton and Stuart Brown. The music will create a summer evening, you will not forget.
On July 18-21. 2019, four local gold medalists will compete in the National ACT-SO (Afro-Academic Cultural Technological Scientific Olympics) Competition. The following three Olympians are 2019 WFHS graduates and their competition areas: Duy Pham, Performing Arts-Vocal Contemporary; Chadwick Davilsaint, Performing Arts-Dramatics and Antoine Jefferson-Humanities-Original Essay.
Also competing is Olympian London Paige, a rising junior at William Fleming HS and Roanoke Valley Governor’s School in the category of STEM-Chemistry/Biochemistry.
Everyone is invited to come, bring their lawn chairs & coolers and enjoy an evening of good music and fellowship.
Tickets are only $15.00 per with proceeds to help the youth bring a national medal back to Roanoke.
