Pastor, Lewis L Tucker, Jr., of My Church Lynchburg and his wife, Pastor Stephanie Tucker, (a Roanoke native) have always taught their daughters to trust God, practice excellence, and pursue greatness, and that example has created a legacy of excellence.
In 2008 they pulled their daughters out of public school and started The Kingdom Academy, a Christian academy/homeschool ministry, at the church. There were many skeptics, but Pastors Tucker had a plan, and even though they didn’t know how amazing it would be, they trusted God.
See Pastor Tucker, was ranked 5th out his senior class at Nottoway High School in 1989, and was Virginia State University’s first Board of Visitors Scholar in 1990 when it’s Honors College was founded receiving a full academic scholarship. He graduated 2nd in his engineering class in 94 with a degree in Electronics Engineering.
In 2018, after receiving her Associate’s Degree from Early College at CVCC and her high school diploma from the Kingdom Academy, his oldest daughter Kyah followed in his footsteps, by joining the Honors College at VSU as a Presidential STEM Scholar, receiving a full academic scholarship, and will be graduating with her Manufacturing Engineering degree in May 2021, after only 3 years at the university, and has been accepted into the graduate program at UNC Charlotte for Architecture.
After receiving her Associate’s degree from Early College at CVCC, and her high school diploma from the Kingdom Academy this May, his youngest daughter Kourtney will continue the Tucker Legacy at VSU by pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering with a full academic scholarship as a Presidential STEM Scholar in the Honors College this fall and was selected as one of 150 out of 1, 700 applicants to be part of the HBCU Week Foundation’s Future of STEM Scholars Initiative!
Now that’s a Legacy of Excellence!
