Rochelle Rogers Loritts, a native Roanoker and graduate of Lucy Addison High School will be honored as a stellar cast member by local playwright Dana Franklin Pannell of DFP|On Point Productions’ upcoming stage play The Mary Project ~ the Stone Was Rolled Away, featuring Exousia Praise at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Vision of Faith Bible College, 3101 Cove Rd., NW. Councilman Sherman Lea is the event host.
Rochelle originated the first Henry Street Heritage Festival which celebrated its 26th anniversary this year. Pannell was a featured gospel artist in several Henry Street festivals. Rochelle coordinated the popular event six times until failing health prevailed. The festival has become the Museum’s primary event and fundraiser.
Rochelle has been instrumental in coordinating and fund-raising for the local branch NAACP, Virginia Western Community College, Women United for Community Action and the Gainesboro Neighborhood Association among others. She is the mother of 3 sons, Jason, and twins Aaron and Christopher Loritts. Ms. Lorritts and Dana Grace Pannell have worked together on several successful endeavors.
Councilman Sherman P. Lea, is the event host. A Stop the Violence Food drive for the Turning Point Shelter and Sabrinas’ Place will be held with donations accepted at the door. Victims of violence in the Roanoke Valley along with WDBJ-7 Alison Parker and Adam Ward will be remembered.
