Long-time friends met in Pittsburgh, PA this year for their annual “college girlfriend weekend.” But this trip did not include their usual sightseeing, wine tours and visits to music and historic venues. This year was all about the wedding of Michele’s baby girl, Morgan. (Dianne Johnson was unable to travel with the group this year.)
The wedding was held at the Carnegie Science Center under the starlit dome of the Buhl Planetarium. The elegant wedding included an unusual water ceremony that symbolized the couple’s unity. After the ceremonial kiss, the bride and groom, Morgan and Jim, invited guests to lean back in their reclining chairs and look at the planetarium dome to enjoy the dazzling laser-light show choreographed to the couple’s favorite music tunes. It was breathtaking.
A 1973, wedding picture of Morgan’s parents, Michele and Dwayne, where Devorah, Jan and Dianne were bridesmaids, was passed around at the reception. This picture brought lots of oohs and aahs and made their daughter’s wedding a much more heartwarming and nostalgic event.
In 2019, this group of college friends will return to Pittsburgh, where it all began, to celebrate their 50th friendship anniversary.
