Pilgrim Baptist Church recognized their Youth of the Year on Sunday, Dec. 10th at the 7:45am service. Shakyra Leftwich was named Youth of Year for 2023 with 1st runner up, Mariah English and Royal Reynolds as 2nd runner up.
Shakyra is a senior at Salem High School where she is an “A” honor roll student, participates in the Black History Club, National and Spanish Honor Societies and at the church she coordinates and dances with the Divine Movement Praise Dancers.
Mariah English is an “A/B” honor roll student at Northside Middle where she was a participant in the school choir and made all division for the choir and is member of the Handbell Choir at the church.
Royal Reynolds is an “A/B” honor roll student at Roanoke Academy of Math and Science Elementary School and is a member of Pilgrim’s Handbell and Angel Choir.
