November is the month of thanksgiving and the members of Alleghany-Dunbar #109 and the young men of Knights of Pythagoras (KOP) ES Smith #2 and their KOP Parent Group made sure the blessing they have received were paid forwarded. The brothers from Alleghany-Dunbar Lodge #109 and young men from their youth group, KOP ES Brown #2, served as Salvation Army Bell Ringers on a cold and rainy Saturday morning in front of a local Kroger Supermarket.
They also collected four turkeys and thanksgiving fixings, which were donated to Hurt Park Elementary School, and over forty bags of shoes and clothing were collected and donated to the Roanoke Area Ministry’s (RAM) House.
Lodge assisted an aspiring young college student in his pursuit of higher education and presented a $300.00 college scholarship check to Christian Miller, a 2019 graduate of Northside High School who is attending Virginia Tech and is pursuing a major related to National Security and Foreign Affairs. Christian is the grandson of the late Worshipful Past Master Tony Reed, AD #109.
Lodge members presenting the check were Past Worshipful Master Bernard Johnson, 20th Masonic District Deputy Felix Morgan, and Allegheny–Dunbar #109 Worshipful Master Myles Jackson.
