The Roanoke City Retired Educators Association met on May 10, 2018 at the Williamson Road Branch Library Community Room for its monthly meeting. Guest speaker, Chris Taibbi spoke to the members on “Keeping Your Brain Healthy and Active.” Scholarship Chairperson, Donna W. Lee, invited the following scholarship recipients and their parents to the May Reception.
Rachel Higgins, daughter of Mark and Karen Higgins, will attend James Madison University (JMU) this fall. She was a 2018 Honor graduate from William Fleming High School who participated in the “Teachers for Tomorrow Program” and desires to teach High School Psychology.
Scholarship recipients must show proof of College Enrollment and class schedules before the $500.00 Scholarship Award is given. Rachel met with the Scholarship Chairperson, Donna Lee and RCREA Treasurer, Marie Bright at the Hollins Branch Library to receive her $500.00 award.
The RCREA was delighted to award this scholarship, congratulate and wish Rachel Higgins the very best in all her future endeavors.
