Alas we arrive at the final week of the Gregorian calendar year. A time of the year when the Christian spirit of Christmas of “peace and goodwill toward men” still briefly lingers before being driven out of mind by national, political, racial, economic or other concerns.
Established as Brotherhood Week, this is the week observed by those who believe in the brotherhood of man and those who sincerely desire to extend the Christmas spirit throughout the entire year—after year, after year.
With the ending of this week comes the beginning of a New Year, as every ending is followed by a new beginning. Every morn is followed by evening and each evening precedes a glorious morn–with the darkest part of night just before dawn.
In the Baha’i Holy Writings we are reminded that “Absolute repose does not exist in nature. All life either makes progress or loses ground. Nothing is without motion. All animal and plant life progresses to different stages of maturity before beginning to decline until transformed into different matter. Man alone has been endowed with “the dangerous weapon of volition” to alter or disrespect such natural process or the laws of God and man. To continuously disrespect such freedoms is to relinquish them to others to hold jurisdiction over us. It is quite apparent that the more freedom we enjoy the less we appreciate it and the more we infringe upon the rights of others–as individuals and especially in today’s corporate world. Our ability to discipline these respective freedoms is what determines whether we soar to unfathomable heights or self-destruct –as individuals and nations.
Can you imagine the unimaginable? . . .
*No campaigns preceding political elections!—needing *No money for campaigning! And upon being elected to serve on local, state or national governing bodies, neither title nor monetary compensation for the honor of having been elected to serve the best interest of the people under your jurisdiction (collectively of the world)!
*Can you imagine not only trusting and respecting these elected officials but actually loving them and the respective institutions they comprise? This is the nucleus and embryonic model of World Peace—not just prophesy but with Divinely orchestrated GPS!
On this planet purported to be millions of years old, the scientific and technological advancement within the past 160+ years has exceeded that of all former ages combined! Not signalizing the end of the world but the end of an era and the beginning of a new stage of maturity in mankind. Having reached physical and mental maturity, mankind is now reaching spiritual maturity, its final stage through which world peace will inevitably come, according to a Baha’i World Peace Statement issued in 1985 by the Universal House of Justice on Mt. Carmel in Haifa, Israel.
