There were plenty of good wishes and encouragement to go around at the Silver Celebration of Praise held for Dr. judi Love Bowman on Friday, Nov. 28 at the Ramada Inn. judi entered the gala to the theme from “Preachers of LA”: “They call me a hero, but I can’t fly,” looking radiant and spreading joy and love. She later signed books and CDs while others enjoyed the catered reception from LaCove which, along with tasty hors d’oeuvres, featured a beautiful cake which depicted the book cover.
Mr. Archie Freeman acted as MC for the occasion, singing and even preaching a little! He also read a letter from US Senator Mark Warner and other congratulatory correspondences. Several people were on hand to offer their congratulations and love, including Del. Sam Rasoul who presented dr. judi with a commendation and NAACP President Brenda Hale. Vonda Wright and the Jerusalem Baptist Church Praise Dancers performed to the timeless hymn “Silver and Gold.”
A good time was had by all and in the words of Dr. judi, “It was a perfect evening.”
