Brooklyn-born and Roanoke-raised, Brandi Lazare is a product of the Star City! From attending Roanoke City Public Schools, Highland Park, James Breckinridge, and William Fleming to being the only woman of color to serve as an elementary School Resource Officer for the Roanoke City Public School System for the past 10 years, Brandi is the epitome of a pioneer for a change!
Brandi is the Community Engagement Sergeant for the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office. With over ten years of dedicated service, she has become a well-known face and household name in her community and understands the various facets that create a healthy community. Bearing this in mind, she proudly serves as an active YMCA at Gainsboro Express Board Member, a West End Center for Youth Board Member, a Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia Safety Committee Member, as well as a Council Member for Feeding Southwest Virginia- Community Solutions Center. She is also an ambassador for Women Behind the Badge, a program that is dedicated to the empowerment of female law enforcement officers. Those are just a few ways Brandi is using her voice and influence to positively impact her community.
Brandi’s most recent accomplishment has landed her the prestigious title of Ms. Virginia East Coast USA 2023! As state royalty, Brandi will continue to use her influence to further give back to her community. Considering the active role she already plays in the lives of our youth, we have complete faith that she will continue forging the way for all the little girls that see themselves in her.
It is said, “When the crown hits your head the journey has just begun!” For Brandi, this journey began when she found her voice and realized she was royalty all before the physical crown.
