The Scholarship Ministry of Sweet Union Baptist Church is proud to announce the following recipients of the 2019 Scholarship Awards: Shawn Akers, a graduate of Patrick Henry High School who will be attending Radford University; and Alexia Barksdale, a William Fleming High graduate who will be attending Virginia Wesleyan University, Virginia Beach, VA who received the Rev. Dr. E. T. Burton Scholarship (1st and 2nd Place respectively); Jordan Cannaday also a Williams Fleming High graduate will be attending Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, VA, received the Earnest C. Wilson Award; and James Smith, a Patrick Henry High School graduate will attend Randolph Macon College, Ashland, VA, received the Kollie Harris Book Award.
The following students who made the A/B Honor Roll during the 2018-19 school year were also recognized and received monetary gifts: Savannah Smith, Ne’Aja McQueen, Elijah Trigg, Ronald Williams, Omari Coger, Darius Lewis and Ke’Sean King.
