TAP Books is excited to announce a new community partnership with Goodwill Industries of the Valleys and Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley.
In 2018, TAP Books began collecting and selling donated books and other media in order to create jobs and generate stable revenue for TAP programs. “We are grateful for our customer base. The donations are extremely helpful for TAP to fulfill its mission. We want to continue the momentum while reducing the overhead expenses. As a result, TAP has formed a partnership with these strong organizations,” states Annette Lewis, TAP President and CEO.
The TAP Books program will vacate its current warehouse location by January 31, 2023. Goodwill Industries of the Valleys will collect the books from TAP donation bins and process them for resale online, while splitting the profits with TAP Books to cover Goodwill’s processing costs and continue to generate discretionary funds for TAP programs.
“Goodwill is excited to partner with TAP and sell their donated books through our online storefronts. Our partnership will help transform donated books into opportunities,” states Richmond Vincent, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. “Collaboration with other local nonprofits is the key to making a positive impact in the Roanoke community.”
Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley will contribute to the effort by allowing a TAP Books donation bin at their ReStore location. Habitat Executive Director Karen Mason states, “Habitat is pleased to support TAP Books by serving as a collection point and donating books received in the ReStore. We recognize that when nonprofits partner together, we build a stronger, more vibrant community.”
The Rescue Mission of Roanoke has partnered with Goodwill for roughly ten years in a similar manner to process its books and other recyclable items. The relationship has proven to be greatly beneficial for both organizations. “This partnership provides a great opportunity to collaborate and connect members of the community to useful items and resources,” notes Kevin Berry, the Rescue Mission’s Director of Marketing & Communications.
Annette Lewis adds, “Each of our organizations play major roles in our region. This partnership demonstrates the strength of working together to better serve the community.”
