We each possess the gift of salesmanship, whether consciously or unconsciously. And whether or not we realize it, our daily actions and reactions often serve as examples to those who hold us in highest esteem, regardless of age. We therefore automatically become salesmen of whatever attitudes and issues we espouse and subsequently display and seldom ever outgrow this image for those who admire us most from earliest stages.
We thus become salesmen of whatever attitudes, images and prejudices we are exposed to from earliest stages. Church-based families acquaint their siblings with one type of lifestyle while others with different priorities do likewise with each promoting different life-long salesmanship priorities–often not accepted the same by each family member. Some may choose to carry the honorable puritanical flag while others brought up in same households may vary widely upon reaching maturity, either unaware of or indifferent to the priorities of and reflections upon the other.
Are those involved in the salesmanship of drugs and other health and life-destrustive products so short sighted that they cannot see the long term character assassination involved that affects us all–as families and as a race? We are committing social and spiritual suicide with any involvement with the sales and promotion of drugs or other illegal substances and you can never live it down! What amount of profit could ever be worth such degradation? To become a drug-lord or kingpin (of which the chances are very slim) you would only live in more elaborate fear with a higher price-tag on your head. But in the petty user/pusher status in which most remain, the most realized is a shiny new car (or cars in some cases). Is this really worth selling your soul, your freedom and all future respect for? Is it worth selling poison that you know will maim and kill yourself and others–even the innocent unborn! THINK now!
There are those of us who can still recall the days when pride and dignity were the top priorities taught in the homes, churches and legally segregated school systems–non of which was ever for sale for a fast buck! How did centuries of pride and struggle become so quickly and so deeply submerged in only a couple of decades?
It is clearly evident that the time has now come for us to stop following the misleaders (whomever and wherever) and start following and exemplifying the leadership of our ancestry that has become submerged in the blinding glitter of shiny new things! We can no longer pacify ourselves with shifting blame for all of society’s ills on others. We are the masters of our own fate and the captains of our own souls–and subsequent environments!
