The Dumas Hotel Legacy, Inc. Board of Directors spent the day on Monday consulting with its Roanoke, Richmond and Washington, D.C. legal supports to determine the appropriate response to the Saturday September 29, press release from TAP. After consultation with attorneys the Board of Directors has decided the following: Our legal and otherwise position is that our contract with TAP remains active; The Board is sending a letter to TAP per our consultation with attorneys and will request that TAP comply with the terms of the contract without exception; The Board is also continuing its negotiations with several local lenders and anticipates an agreement with one of those lenders will be secured within the limits of our contract with TAP; The DHL, Inc. will continue its scheduled events as planned in collaboration with community partner organizations. Those events include the following: Kinetic Yoga Event, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Saturday, Oct. 13; Latino/African Dance Party on Henry Street, Sunday Oct. 14, 4 p.m. and Reception in Honor of Evelyn D. Bethel & Helen Davis, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Gainsboro Library.
The Board also authorized the release of the following information regarding the DHL, Inc.’s accomplishments to date in its efforts to galvanize the community for the purchase and ownership of the historic and sacred Dumas Hotel. These accomplishments speak to not only the extent of our due diligence but of the strong, broad and growing community support for the project. It also underscores the tremendous potential of this community project.
