At 5:30 p.m., January 19, outside in Market Square, Mill Mountain Theatre artists, and audiences across the country (and in each time zone) will join to launch The Ghostlight Project.
Gathering outside of theaters on January 19, people across the country joined in a collective, simultaneous action, together creating “light” for challenging times ahead. Inspired by the tradition of leaving a “ghost light” on in a darkened theater, we pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone–regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
At Mill Mountain Theatre the aim was also to create brave spaces that will serve as lights to the community in the coming years. We aim to join a network of people across the country working to support vulnerable communities.
Participants were asked to bring a light that is OFF when they arrive. Bring flashlights, lanterns, cell phone lights, etc. (stick to clear/white light) to initiate the “Ghostlight Project.”
