Pledges to bring sound judgment and reason to the office
Trish White-Boyd has announced her bid as the pool of Roanoke City Council Candidates grows.
“I am pleased and honored to announce that I am vying for the Democratic nomination for Roanoke City Council,” said White-Boyd.
“I see my role on City Council as adding value, new ideas and different perspectives when solving some of the issues that plague our beautiful city”
“There are many issues that will come before us in the next several years… we need to strengthen the foundations of our community by bringing jobs to the City of Roanoke and this entire region.”
In her role as a small business owner, certified senior advisor and member of the board for Local Office on Aging, White-Boyd said she is constantly in touch with both citizens and other business owners.
White-Boyd was appointed to the Roanoke Higher Education Authority by Governor McAuliffe and says her 10 years of being self-employed plus 20 years as a community activist provide her with “the background to effectively advocate for the citizens of Roanoke.”
She was employd for 18 years with the Department of Social Services, Division of Child Support Enforcement as a liaison between the agency and the courts. Such experience, she says, equips her to be a “player in helping to maintain a cohesive and ongoing relationship between citizens of Roanoke and city government.”
“I believe that the foundation of any thriving community include recreation, shopping, entertainment, the arts, public safety, economic growth and certainly education. Therefore, if we want to attract strong companies to the area with better jobs, we must work to enhance and expand these categories.”
In closing she said, “I look forward to a positive campaign, meeting citizens, and tackling the challenges that confront our Star City.”
