The 7th Annual United Black Veterans Society of Virginia(UBVS) Community Day of Love & Education that took place on July 1, at the Roanoke Ramada Inn, was a success thanks to numerous individuals, organizations, & sponsors and supporters. VIP guest speakers include: newly elected Roanoke City Mayor, the honorable Sherman Lea, Sr. – who spoke on Domestic Violence & his Inner City Youth Group, and Roanoke City Chief of Police, Tim Jones – on Safety & Violence being prevented. He specifically addressing the Black communities frequently targeted. Detective Frank Leftwich, also from The Roanoke City Police Department, addressed Sex Trafficking and Abductions, along with safety prevention. Major Greg Winston of the Roanoke City Sheriff Department. Other speakers included: Ms. Evelyn Jordan from TAP; Ms. Martha Siedow, the VIP Guest of honor from the RAM House, and Ms. Freeda Cathcarth, Public Chairman for the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Virginia among others. Special appreciation was extended to all sponsors, caterers, participants, and supporters of this year’s Donorama.
