Two senior members, Adrienne Morgan and Dessie Hurt (not pictured), of United Black Veteran Society (UBVS) were honored during October 2023. Both are members of the Honorary Leadership Council. Since 2013 Morgan has served and is being recognized for her continued service and wisdom. On Friday, Oct. 13th, she was surprised with refreshments, prizes and jazz music as she celebrated her 103rd birthday with her fellow residents at McCray Assistant Living Center. Dempsey Morgan the late husband of Adrienne was also a former UBVS member and a distinguished Tuskegee Airman.
Hurt, co-chair of the council celebrated her birthday on October 3rd with a surprise visit from her daughter, Deborah and sisters, Dr. Mary Ingram and Brenda English. She was also treated with food, gifts, and great fellowship. Hurt has served in several leadership capacities since 2010 in addition to being co-chairman as well as being senior adviser with Adrienne and assistant treasure.
