The Roanoke Valley Breakfast Lions Club (RVBLC), in collaboration with the Roanoke Alliance for the Visually Enabled (RAVE), is sponsoring a unique fashion show, “Limited by Sight not by Style,” featuring models with vision challenges.
RAVE is a support group for persons who are blind or have limited vision, whose motto is “We are only limited by our vision.” Members are excited about sharing their sense of style with others.
This inaugural event will be held on April 9, at 6 pm at the Holiday Inn (Airport), 3315 Ordway Dr. Event planners are working diligently to ensure that this will be a memorable occasion. Included will be dinner, special entertainment, a silent auction, and culminate with the fashion show.
Proceeds from the fashion show will be used to support activities of RAVE and other services to benefit persons with vision difficulties.
Tickets at $25 per can be purchased at the following locations: Holiday Inn (Airport), The Roanoke Tribune, Physicians to Women (21 Highland Ave SE #200) or by calling 540-818-0520.
Bidding for the silent auction will start at 5:30 and end at 6:30. Kristina Montuori and Patrick McKee of WSLS 10 will MC the event.
RVBLC‘s sponsorship of this fashion show honors the mandate that Lions Clubs International accepted from Helen Keller in 1925 to serve as an advocate for persons who are blind. For nearly 100 years, Lions have worked on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye health and eye care for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. RVBLC works tirelessly to assist blind individuals locally and throughout the world. Since the beginning of its fiscal year, July 1, 2015, members of RVBLC have conducted approximately 1000 vision screenings, collected 800 eyeglasses, and processed 2000 pairs of eyeglasses.
