WFXR is pleased to announce the launching of a new lifestyle show, “Living Local,” an original, lifestyle show and online resource focused on providing audiences with informative, useful and FUN content! It features a variety of community organizations, local businesses and events going on throughout Southwest and Central Virginia.
This live one-hour show will feature unique interviews with incredible people doing extraordinary things, community issues, raise awareness about amazing community organizations, business leaders, cooking segments, self-help, fashion trends, beauty tips, furry friends, DIY projects, parenting info, family health matters, home advice, and more!
Kianna Price Marshall, a native of the Roanoke, is the new Lifestyle TV host of Living Local program on WFXR – Roanoke’s Local Fox affiliate.
Since 2008, Kianna has worked as on-air personality for the Vibe and later as the Program Director for over 10 years. Additionally, she worked in multi-media formats including hosting a local TV community events show for Cox Cable for 7 years, as well as started and hosted a weekly segment for WDBJ7, Your Hometown Happenings. She is one of the “go to” people when it comes to raising awareness and raising funds for deserving non-profit organizations in the Valley. Over the last 3 years she has assisted in raising $1,000 for the Salvation Army, VA Blue Ridge Susan G. Komen Foundation, Roanoke City Public School’s Healthy Cooking and Nutrition Program, and Family Service of Roanoke Valley. Each campaign featured creative fundraising from dancing Salsa and lip-syncing, to waiting tables and wearing a hot pink wig for a month for breast cancer awareness.
Kianna enjoys serving her community in creative and fun ways and looks forward to bringing this creativity and excitement to Living Local that airs weekdays on WFXR, local Fox affiliate, (Ch 8) (Ch27 satellite). Kianna is, a graduate of University of Richmond. Prior to her new TV position she was the Program Director and On Air Radio Personality for the Vibe for over 10 years. Her career has afforded her the opportunity to interview various celebrities from Magic Johnson, and Vice-President Joe Biden to John Legend and Smokey Robinson. The highlight of her career has been interviewing President Barack Obama and later, First Lady Michelle Obama!
In 2016, she ventured into print media as a freelance writer for Colors VA magazine. She is also a Stella and Dot Independent Business Owner, an accessories lifestyle brand and currently serves on the board of The Jefferson Center, Chairperson of Apple Ridge Farm, former member of the Roanoke City Arts Commission for 7 years, and is a founding member and current president of the Urban Professional League (UPL). She’s also a member of various civic organizations including “Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.;” “The Roanoke Valley Chapter of Links, Inc;” and president of “The Roanoke Chapter of Jack & Jill of America.”
She also helped raise funds for such deserving non-profit local organizations as the Salvation Army, VA Blue Ridge Susan G. Komen Foundation, Roanoke City Public School’s Healthy Cooking and Nutrition Program, and Family Service of Roanoke Valley. She enjoys serving her community in creative and fun ways, however her main purpose is to draw attention and awareness to worthy causes while generating revenue for the continuation of the great causes.
Her honors received include: the SCLC Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award; the Media Award for Black Girls Rock; and the Roanoke Branch NAACP Citizen of the Year Award for Media. In 2015, she was selected to appear in the national magazine, “Radio Ink” featuring future African American Leaders in radio. Kianna has also had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Virginia State Capital Building on two occasions, and in 2012 for President Bill Clinton at President Barack Obama’s Grassroots Event in Roanoke.
Her greatest pride, however is in her children Kennady and Kaiden and husband Donnie Marshall.
