Dr. Lloyd Hackley launches comprehensive workshop to educate families.
It doesn’t take long to realize the intense passion with which Dr. Lloyd Hackley attacks the issue of empowering people through knowledge.
Dr. Hackley is a former Roanoker and Lucy Addison HS graduate, who has an extensive 20-year career as a retired Air Force veteran.
Throughout his stellar career as a seasoned educator, Dr. Hackley has been chancellor of four colleges and has held a number of positions with various other institutions of higher learning. He now returns home with an intense focus on raising the bar for “those entities that work directly with children,” (i.e.; parents, teachers, administrators, churches and other organizations.
His wealth of knowledge was clearly exemplified through the session as he has conducted an incredible number of seminars, workshops and lectures relating to character building, leadership, community development and more.
“Education will get you through anything if it’s right,” said Hackley who is a firm believer that education is power.
Dr. Hackley is one of few educators fortunate enough to have his daughter, Dina Hackley-Hunt as partner in their mission to equip families with the necessary tools to enhance their lives through education.
Dina is truly a chip off the ‘ole’ block with an impressive line-up of credits certifying her as an agent of personal development regarding youth and families. Her 20 years of experience working with at-risk youth, parents and professionals encouraged her to open Little Champions Learning Academy on Peters Creek Road, NW in an effort to make a difference early in the lives of young people.
With this express purpose in mind, Dr. Hackley and Dina (as the dynamic duo of Hackley and Associates) launched the series of workshops “Success Strategies for African American Families.
The first session was held Saturday, March 17 at the academy. Hackley’s comprehensive presentation features concepts critical to the cultivation of academics and behavioral skills geared specifically toward the development of areas in dire need of attention and intensive care–regarding the total human condition.
The 2-hour presentation was accentuated with an engaging power point presentation that bolstered a host of concepts packed into his remedial regiment.
Also featured were intriguing illustrations and several graphs–one of which showed the dismal rate of African Americans proceeding to college from high school, (circa 1940’s – 2015).
Among several issues of focus was ‘Planning’ re: developing a family mission. Other issues centered around: teaching children morals and values to foster respect for themselves, their families, et, al.
Another of the many concerns addressed was based on the notion that “Parents know what needs to be done and want to help their children succeed, but do not know how to do it.” With that, Dr. Hackley introduced facts showing, parents as the “most critical part of the educational community, bar none.”
Such a concentrated effort, presented by a certified and well-equipped (father/daughter) team, speaks volumes and provides much need assistance in the area of family and personal development.
Furthermore, the program presents a glimmer of hope that is real and provides a rare opportunity for families and youth to prepare for the challenges ahead in a rapidly changing world.
