Garden Club
In order to promote Youth development, healthy living and social responsibility the YMCA Express at Gainsboro is offering special summer programs for youth. Its Garden Club invites ages 8-13 to “come out and grow with us” Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m. The Garden Club is a free summer program that allows you to connect with other youth and work together to create a garden filled with fresh vegetables that you and others can enjoy.
Guest speakers will also provide different tools and techniques to creating a garden. Learn the basics of growing both indoor and outdoor gardens and harvest fresh vegetables to donate to those in need.
The Running Club
Encourages students ages 13-18 to “run with all their heart and soul.” Youth have an opportunity to become healthier and stronger as they increase stamina and speed through running at various levels and with various challenges. Students will also train to compete in 5k races and running groups throughout the city. “Come run with us” learn the basics of running and become involved with the running community!
The Running Club meets Monday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 at the YMCA Express Gainsboro, 108 Orange Ave. N.W. and is free and open to the public.
