On Monday, Nov. 25, Franklin County AARP Chapter members, JoAnn Young, Juanita Mack and Marguerite Brown delivered NFL knitted stocking caps to Veterans at the Salem VA Medical Center in Salem, VA.
The stocking caps were donated to the chapter by Veteran James Young 80, of Renton, WA, formerly of Ferrum, VA. He is the brother of the chapter’s president.
Jade Fillinger, volunteer director of the facility, escorted by chapter members through the facility as they met with the Veterans and presented them with the cap of their chose.
The Cowboys stocking cap was requested most often but unfortunately there was only one cap for each of the 32 NFL teams. According to JoAnn Young, the Veterans were very appreciative and described it as a heartwarming experience.
A number of caps were left with Director Fillinger, who assured chapter members the caps would be given to Veteran.
