You are encouraged to come on Thursday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m. to Talmadge Recital Hall at Hollins University for a concert presented by mezzo soprano, Helena Brown. In a program titled “Land and Sea: Traversing Song with Southern Women Writers,” Brown unifies songs of Eastern Europe with southern women writers on the commonality of land and sea.
Since graduating from Hollins in 2012, Helena Brown has completed her Master of Music degree at Manhattan School of Music and begun an impressive career in the world of opera.
On Sunday, Oct. 25, 3:00 p.m,, Talmadge Recital Hall, Hollins Department on Music will present Stanislav Khristenko. Winner of the prestigious 2013 Cleveland International Piano Competition, the Washington Post described his playing as “mature and unhurried,” exhibiting both “power and sensitivity.” Khristenko’s program, “Music of the New World,” features music of Gottschalk, Barber, Glass, and Gershwin.
