FOREST, VA — Randolph-Macon College defensive back J.J. Hill of Roanoke’s William Fleming HS, has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the 14-9 season-ending victory over Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC).
The Yellow Jackets scored on their first possession to take a 7-0 lead. On the second possession for the Tigers, Hill picked off an Edgar Moore pass and took it 31 yards for a touchdown to give R-MC a 14-0 lead seven minutes into the contest.
On the first play of H-SC’s next possession, Hill sacked Moore for a six-yard loss, leading to a Tiger punt.
With the Yellow Jackets leading 14-9 late in the third quarter, Hill picked off Moore in the end zone to halt another Tiger drive.
H-SC had four trips and ran 15 plays in the red zone, including eight plays inside the R-MC 10, and was held to one field goal on those trips. Along with his two interceptions, Hill also had two pass breakups.
Randolph-Macon ended the season with three straight victories. The Yellow Jackets have two consecutive wins against the Tigers and have defeated H-SC in four of the past five meetings.
