The Roanoke Chapter of Chums Inc. had a busy and exciting year. The usual Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas toy donations distributed to underprivileged families in the Roanoke area were much appreciated by the recipients.
Recently, the local Chums celebrated their 56th anniversary at the Roanoke Country Club with a retro themed party entitled “Jazz and Dinner at the Cotton Club and Stompin’ at the Savoy.” Suggested attire for the event was the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. Members and guests were absolutely fabulous in their retro attire. A live jazz band played as members and guest dined at the Cotton Club and a DJ kept everyone Stompin’ at the Savoy.
In April, the Roanoke of Chapter Chums, Inc. was thrilled to induct three new members: Chums Diane Jones, Stella Carpenter and Tonya Gilson.
Roanoke Chapter members are looking forward to the Annual Conclave to be held this year in October in Charleston, SC. The 2017 Conclave will be sponsored by the National Chums, Inc. organization with a Caribbean Cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas.
The Roanoke Chapter will culminate this season in June with an annual picnic in Longwood Park.
