NC A&T U Grad sores to great heights

Sierra Nicole Ashford is a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC  On May 14, 2016, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice.  She was on the dean’s list multiple times during her undergraduate studies and has a cumulative 3.0 GPA. 

During her college education, Sierra had internship at the Gateway Education Center in Greensboro, NC — a model program for the education and care of children, 3-22 years of age, with severe cognitive, physical and/or medical disabilities.  Also, Sierra had work/study as an Upward Bound Clerk and Tutoring Counselor as well as being a current part-time Sales Associate at Old Navy in Greensboro, NC for the past year.

In college, she was the treasurer of her school’s Virginia Aggies, served as Community Service Chair – Miss Virginia Aggies, her junior year.  Ashford was also a member of the Collegiate Chapter of the NAACP at N.C. A&T State University since 2012.  Actively involved in her college and Greensboro Community Service Collaboration Projects, she has participated in the MLK Day of Service; Great American Clean-Up; Color Vybez 5k Run; Breast Cancer Walk and the World Aids Day Walk.

Ashford is an alumnus of William Fleming High School in Roanoke, where she participated in track and tennis, and excelled in the school’s first girls lacrosse team (awarded MVP her senior year) along with other high honors in academics.  Sierra’s parents are Marshall and Linda Ashford, her brother Bryan Ashford is a William Fleming and Hampton University alumnus and her grandmother is Dr. Dolores Y. Johns all of Roanoke.
