The Talent Hunt Committee of Gamma Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Pi Fraternity, Inc. is currently recruiting high school students who want to showcase his or her talents in the areas of singing, dancing, acting, or performing on a musical instrument. The annual talent show will be Friday, Feb. 27, at William Fleming High School.
This is a mandated project that the men of Omega Psi Phi have been promoting since 1946. The need for such a program originated from the limited opportunities of African-American youth to give full expression of their talents. The Talent Hunt Contest is designed to provide exposure, encouragement and financial assistance to talented high school students. This is an awesome opportunity to perform and become exposed to scholarships and other programs provided by the fraternity.
Youth throughout the valley are encouraged to apply. First, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes are $250, $175, and $100, respectively. The winner will have the opportunity to win an additional $1,000 at the District competition to be held April 11, in Norfolk.
For an application packet or more information, call the Fine Arts teachers at your school, a member of Gamma Alpha Chapter or the chairperson, Reginald Duckett at 819-6241.
