Many years ago, the NNEO, Northwest Neighborhood Environmental Organization was formed to provide for a vision to improve the Northwest community. Then a grassroots group was formed to create a community garden that has evolved into One Valley Inc., which is now making strides to make that vision a reality.
One of the steps in the One Valley Inc. evolution was becoming a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit and that is where Tom Cain and Richard Kurshan played a role.?? Tom Cain created a Lick Run Watershed Association in 2011 and after his passing Richard Kurshan was instrumental in providing the legal counsel and advice on how to merge the Lick Run Watershed Association into One Valley Inc. This was acknowledged at the last NNEO and One Valley Inc. meeting with a Proclamation and a Certificate of Appreciation for his efforts to make this successful transition.
As a result, you will see moving forward a significant amount of activity in the development of community gardens in the Northwest area both public and commercial.
More information of these ventures will be coming soon.
