Alleghany-Dunbar Lodge #109, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons installed its cabinet of officers for July 2019 – 20 at its monthly meeting held June 14. Elected to lead the Lodge is Worshipful Master Myles W. Jackson, Sr. who has been with AD #109 for seven years, serving in several positions.
WM Jackson retired from the U.S. Army in 1992 after 20 years’ service as a Military Policeman. Following retirement, he has been employed with the Roanoke County Police Department, Commonwealth of Virginia Parole and Probation, Department of State Diplomatic Security, and is currently employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs as an Authorization Quality Review Specialist.
Other Masonic organizations include: Fidelity Chapter #54, Order of the Eastern Star of Virginia Prince Hall Affiliation, Roanoke, VA and United Supreme Council, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for the 33rd Degree of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation, Grand Orient Washington District of Columbia. He is also an active member at First Baptist Church – Gainsboro, under the pastorship of Rev. Barron O. Wilson.
The following Prince Hall Masons were elected/appointed for term of service are: Worshipful Master – WM Myles W. Jackson Sr.; Senior Warden – MM Theo Taylor; Junior Warden – MM Eric Wiley; Secretary – WPM James Smith; Treasurer – MM Ben Mitchell; Senior Deacon – WPM Bernard Johnson; Junior Deacon – MM Shawn Pemberton; Chaplin – MM Rev. Dr. E.T. Burton; Tyler – WPM Tyron Nance; and Marshal – WPM Demare Gill, Sr.
During the past year, Alleghany-Dunbar Lodge #109 has been very active in the community participating in donating school supplies and Thanksgiving Food baskets to Hurt Park Elementary School, donating clothing to the Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM); donating toys to the Rescue Mission during Christmas, visiting Veterans at the Salem Virginia Veterans Care Center, participating in the City of Roanoke and Danville Christmas parades, participating in the annual Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia Free and Accepted Masons, Inc. Luncheon at the Salem Veterans Medical Center, and visiting area churches during their Sunday Morning church service throughout the year.
