Nazier Jackson a Rising Voice for Youth Leadership in Roanoke
At just 16, Nazier Jackson is already making waves in the world of civic engagement and youth leadership. Currently serving as the 2nd Vice President of the Roanoke NAACP Youth Council and the 2nd Vice President of the Virginia State Conference NAACP, Nazier stands out not only for his dedication – but also for his distinction as the youngest member of the State Committee, and the only one still in high school.
He has been a proud member of the NAACP for nearly three years and has served on the executive board for almost a year. He also chairs the fundraising committee for the Roanoke Youth Council, where he has led efforts to support community initiatives and youth programming.
In addition to his NAACP leadership, Nazier, the only youth member of the Roanoke Gun Violence Prevention Committee, brings a vital perspective to the table and advocates for solutions that prioritize the safety and well-being of young people in his community.
Looking ahead to 2026, Nazier is preparing to run for 1st Vice President of the Roanoke NAACP Youth Council, with a renewed focus on expanding community outreach and empowering young people to lead.
“I want young people to know that leadership doesn’t have an age limit,” Nazier says. “If you care, you can lead – and if you lead with heart, you can change your community.”
