Apparently, the U.S is facing a major obstacle to end the Russian-Ukraine war, as President Donald Trump is continuously failing to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war and retreat from the Ukraine’s invaded territories. Prior to his second term, President Trump said that he is able to stop the Russian-Ukraine war in 24 hours. In fact, it is not as simple as it seems. Now, Russia is posing a threat to all members of NATO as there is no concrete plan to counter such threat.
However, instead of focusing on the unknown fate of the world as it is in a predicament situation with Russia’s defiance, President Trump is pushing for an unnecessary conflict with Venezuela and calling to oust Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro. The U.S must analyze the threat of Venezuela before taking a military action and involve in a conflict that absorbs more American dollars and perhaps causes the lives of more human beings either Americans or Venezuelans.
The U.S foreign policy should refrain from regime change of Venezuela and the lawmakers must oppose any military action against the county. The U.S House of Representatives and Senate are obligated to carefully review President Trump’s agenda regarding Venezuela to prevent America from falling into another war. By weighing Venezuela’s threat to the U.S, clearly, it is less concerning compared to Russia and the Middle Eastern conflict.
There are many issues that are concerning the American people, which put the matter of Venezuela in the bottom of the list, and many questions that have not been answered by President Trump, which agitate the public. Generally, American people do not support wars and conflicts as indeed America has not forgotten the pain of its previous wars either foreign or civil war.
The challenges are increasing and the voters are expecting the promises from President Trump to be fulfilled. Intervening in Venezuela can become another disaster for the nation over all, and it would be another dark mark for the U.S foreign policy on the pages of the history book.
As President Trump pushed Americans to believe in “ America First” and approached the voters with making the country great, in fact, he must realize that the regime change in Venezuela will definitely not shift the American lifestyle upward. Perhaps, toppling President Maduro can create a great mayhem across Venezuela and result in a greater chaos and cause problems for the U.S.
The U.S involvement in regime change requires a fund that would add more burdens on an average hardworking American. The aftermath of regime changes is not the happy ending but in fact the beginning of a new disaster, and often the U.S foreign policy was a major part of such a disaster.
However, the U.S involvement in regime changes in the past has not always been a great turning point for people, and in fact, in many circumstances, it has become a slippery slope. For example, regardless of the Iraqis suffering under the rule of former vicious President Saddam Hussain, the regime change in Iraq in 2003, brought chaos, militia ruling, corruption, and drug smuggling to the country and became part of the Iraqis’ lives.
Furthermore, the regime change in Afghanistan and the U.S abandonment of its ally, Afghani government and President Ashraf Ghani in 2021, and the return of Taliban, once it was ousted by the U.S in 2001, to control Afghanistan created a catastrophe for both the Afghanis and the Americans.
While President Trump is ramping up pressure on the Venezuelan President and preparing for a conflict, in America, the political conflict, uncertainty of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the enhanced tax credit, and the stiffness of the economy are ramping up pressure on American people.
After all, Americans do not seek war or conflict across the world.
