In celebration of Roanoke’s individual unique neighborhoods, the City of Roanoke has designated the entire month of May as Neighborhood Month. Accordingly, to show pride in its neighborhood, the Gainsborough Southwest Community Organization (GSCO) will hold its third Annual Neighborhood Block Party between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, May 16 near the Gainsboro Library at Patton Ave. and Jefferson St. NW.
Local businesses and churches are invited to participate in this special event attended last year by over 500 people. This is a great opportunity to promote your church or business while supporting your neighborhood. Any support given through participation, donations or giveaways will be greatly appreciated.
Once again the neighborhood Coca-Cola Bottling Co. has generously agreed to provide hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages Free of Charge between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Please come meet your neighbors, play games and listen to great music and join in showing support for this historic neighborhood!
The GSCO is an educational and charitable non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization composed of business, residents and property owners working together to improve the quality of life in the Gainsboro neighborhood.
If your business or church is interested in participating in (or donating to) the Gainsborough Neighborhood Block Party, please contact Constance Crutchfield, GSCO president (540) 343-0311 or Rochelle Loritts, Block Party Committee chairperson, (540) 366-0601.
