Black-History/Black Culture Sessions

The Black History Committee of Franklin County will be presenting “Black History/Black Culture” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 at the Pigg River Building located at 2410 S. Main St. in Rocky Mt., VA, through the following six interactive sessions respectively: Introduction; Slavery in America; Civil War & Reconstruction; Jim Crow Laws & Implications; Education of Blacks, and the “Black Lives Matter” movement.

Each session will present key themes and ideas that connect the past with the present; explore historical areas through travel; a Gallery walk of Artifacts; Storytelling; Individual & Group presentations of their history; and contributions of Blacks throughout history!

All sessions are free and open to the public. Come join in and become engaged in the many opportunities for audience participation!
