The Roanoke Chapter of Chums, Incorporated recognized six local Black-owned businesses along with one located in Lynchburg, VA that is owned by a sister Chum.
The Roanoke Chums presented each business with a certificate of appreciation and a yellow rose, the Chums, Inc. national flower. This appreciation is part of their National Public Relations Juneteenth initiative “Freedom to Flourish: A Celebration of Black Business Brilliance.”It focuses on highlighting Black-owned businesses and their invaluable presence to the stability of Black economic progress and the communities that they serve.
The Roanoke Chapter of Chums, Incorporated having had a presence in the community for more than 65 years, was excited to recognize a few of the many Black-owned businesses in the area and beyond. This year’s recipients were: The Roanoke Tribune, Henrietta Lacks Cafe. Liberty Tax Services, Fitness Fun With Tracy, Hamlar and Curtis Funeral Services, Serenity Funeral Services, and World of Dance Performing Arts (Lynchburg, VA).
These businesses will be listed in a developing resource by the National Public Relations Officer and Ambassadors, the National Chums “Yellow and Green Guide,” along with other businesses from the other thirtynine chapters.
