Delta announces 2016 Scholarship recipients

The Scholarship Committee of the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly awarded scholarships to eight area high school seniors.  Students were selected based on need, grades and plans to enroll in an accredited college.  The following students exemplified high academic excellence, extracurricular activity involvement and participation in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority programs as well as community service participation throughout their high school years.

The scholarship recipients, their parents, chosen colleges and majors of study are:  William Fleming High School; Elizabeth G. Brown, parent, Melissa Brown, attending Davis & Elkins College, majoring in Dance; and Kelsey A. Morgan, parents, George and Paula Morgan, attending Radford Universit,y majoring in Nursing.

Patrick Henry High School: Jasmine A. English, parent, Regina Johnson, attending Old dominion University, majoring in Business Management; Monica K. Hackett, parent, Tracey Hackett Brookins, attending Spelman College, majoring in Biology; and Aijalon L. Robinson, parent, Stephanie Robinson, attending George Mason University, majoring in Political Science.

Northside High School: Carden M. Clark, parents, Wayne and Mary Clark, attending North Carolina A & T University, majoring in Nursing.

Lord Botetourt High School: Darrell A. Nicholson, Jr., parents, Darrell and Clairessa Nicholson, Sr., attending Radford University, majoring in Finance.

Franklin County High School: Sarah P. Hodges, parent, Rebecca Layne, attending Ferrum College, majoring in English.

The chapter is extremely proud of these students and their accomplishments and wish each of them success in their college and future endeavors.

Scholarship Chair is Saron McEnheimer.  Monica Callaway is chapter president.
