The League of Women Voters of the Roanoke Valley is excited to be working with Hollins University to have a kick-off event at the beginning of the General Assembly to support the Equal Rights Amendment. VA Ratify ERA is hosting a Party for Parity in Richmond to celebrate the first day of the General Assembly.

While some people from our area will be going to Richmond to attend this event, we want to do something special to inspire attendance from our area. Please come join in this energizing evening and become a part of history by helping Virginia become the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment!

The evening will start with an inspirational panel moderated by Kathy Krendl. Confirmed panelists include NAACP President Brenda Hale, Courtney Chenette and Tallulah Costa. We encourage as many members as possible to join in promoting this critical event on Wednesday Jan. 9, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Visual Arts Center.

For additional information, please contact Freeda Cathcart at 540-598-7231.

One More State to 38! Virginia, Let’s Make History! Visual Arts Center Hollins University located at 8009 Fishburn Drive Roanoke, VA, 24019

Confirmed panelists: Brenda Hale, president of the Roanoke NAACP; Courtney Chenette and Tallulah Costa

It would be helpful for as many members as possible to help us promote this event. We also would appreciate volunteers for the event. There are many ways you can help from greeting people as they enter and leave the event, staffing our table and answering questions people may have to join our chapter. Hollins University is making posters we can print out to place at our places of worship, bulletin boards at work or in our community. Hollins University is also providing cider and cookies for the reception after the panel is over. Here’s the link to the Facebook event for you to use to invite your friends.
