Two $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to qualifying local area high school students by Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boulé). Applicants who demonstrate need will be judged on their academic standing, personal achievement, community involvement and recommendation letters.
For a student to be considered, all of the required information must be received by the committee by April 26, 2019. Awards will be announced to the recipients on/or before May 20, 2019. The awards will be celebrated with recipients and their families during a private organizational dinner meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boulé), is the oldest Greek-letter fellowship for predominately African-American men. Since its beginning in 1904 in Philadelphia, PA the fraternity has 108 Subordinate Boulés in the US and the Bahamas. The local organization founded in 1983 is now known as the Roanoke-Lynchburg, Virginia Beta Phi chapter.
In 1995, Beta Phi Boulé initiated and has maintained annual academic recognition awards. Its purpose is to provide financial support to South West Virginia area, African-American graduating high school seniors who desire advanced education and have attended one high school for the last two (2) years.
