Michael L. Hamlar, President and Owner of Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory, is proud to announce the creation of the Melrose Business Association, a brand-new organization dedicated to supporting, connecting, and advocating for businesses along the Melrose Avenue corridor and surrounding areas. The Association is now actively seeking members and Board members to join in shaping its mission and direction.
To kick off this effort, an interest meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the L.H. Hamlar Event Center located at 4516 Melrose Ave
NW, Roanoke. All local business owners and entrepreneurs are invited to attend to learn more about the Association and how to get involved.
The Melrose Business Association (MBA) was established to strengthen the local business community and enhance the vitality of one of Roanoke’s most dynamic and growing corridors. Through collaboration, shared resources, and collective advocacy, the Association will serve as a unified voice for business owners and entrepreneurs committed to the continued success of the area.

The Melrose Business Association will serve several key roles, including: Advocacy: Acting as a collective voice to influence local, state, and federal policy, tax laws, and regulations that affect business members. Networking: Providing opportunities for members to connect, build relationships, and exchange information with other business professionals. Industry Standards and Credibility: Promoting best practices that enhance member reputation and foster professional excellence. Financial and Operational Support: Sharing access to funding opportunities such as loans and grants. Community Building: Fostering a spirit of collaboration and shared success among businesses with common goals for the Melrose corridor.
The Association’s first priority is to build a strong foundation of engaged members and an active Board of Directors who will help guide the organization’s growth and programs.
