Henry Street Dessert Contest announces bakers for 2016

The Harrison Museum of African Culture is pleased to announce the bakers for the Henry Street Dessert Contest beginning at 12:00 noon on September 19.

The bakers are: Ms. Myrtle Major from Maryland and from Roanoke: Ms. Destiny Chambers, Dr. Janet Johnson, Ms. Brenda Chapman, Ms. Sandy McCullar, Ms. Barbara Phifer, Ms. Siclinda Canty-Elliott, Ms. Lakeisha Swain, and Ms. Monica Y.  Johnson.   The judging will be done by a member of the Virginia Western Culinary staff for the Judge’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Awards will be chosen by the highest number of votes received from the audience. The public is encouraged to come out and vote for your favorite dessert.

Please come join in the Henry Street Festival’s Dessert Contest and if you would still like to be one of the bakers, please call the Harrison Museum of African American Culture 540-857-4395. See you at the Festival on Saturday, Sept. 19.
